Myka has been dancing since she was 3 years old and has been a part of the DTA Competition Team for 7 years now! She was also a competitive cheerleader. She loves working with little kids and hiphop is her thing!!
Olimpia is a 31 year old, self taught dancer and has been dancing for about 14 years. She was the head choreographer for the hip-hop dance team in high school for all 4 years. Olimpia has competed in local and non-local dance competitions. Prior to joining the DTA family, she taught hip-hop at Evelyn's Dance Studio, who is the head ballet instructor at Bakersfield College. Dancing has always been her avenue to expression, so she loves it!
Sage Nelson has been dancing for 14 years and competing for 13 years now. She dances every style including tap, hip hop, contemporary, jazz, ballet, pointe, and acrobatics. From 2010 to 2016 she trained at Dancers Turnout and now trains out in LA and also works in the dance industry. In 2017 she won a $32,000 scholarship to attend The Institute of American Musical Theatre in NYC for 2 years. Her credits include Ghostbusters Red Carpet Premiere, Talin Silva 'Vanish', Choreographers Carnival, John Joseph and more! Sage loves to choreograph and create a story with the art of dance.
Ms. Taryn has been dancing since age 3. Originally from Fresno, CA, she has trained in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe and hip hop. She danced competitively for 6 years, then went on to Pep and Cheer at Bullard High School in Fresno. After high school, Ms. Taryn danced for and coached the Bakersfield Blitz Arena Football Dancers and the Bakersfield Jam Basketball Dancers for 5 years. She now lives in Bakersfield where she teaches elementary school and combines her love for teaching, working with kids, and dance at Dancer's Turnout as an instructor and choreographer.
Ms. Shelby has been dancing since the age of 5. She has been trained in ballet, jazz, and tumbling and has competed almost her whole dance career. Shelby trained in Bakersfield, CA for years and then trained with Dancers Edge in Visalia, CA. Shelby brings a fresh young edge in her teaching and is now a part of DTA's teaching and competition staff.
Jenny Hashim (known as “Miss Jenny” to her dancers) is a third generation dancer, performer, and teacher who is proud to have had multiple students take on professional careers in the dance and entertainment industry, as well as be awarded admission to several university dance programs. Her dancers have performed and competed across the country, and won many prestigious awards.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Dance Educators of America, and also holds lifetime membership status with DEA. Jenny teaches master classes and sets choreography for studios in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, Acrobatics, and Musical Theatre. She is trained in the Cecchetti Ballet Syllabus, as well as Early Childhood Education. She has served as a judge for several national competitions. Jenny is also a past adjunct professor in the Physical Education and Kinesiology (PEAK) Department at CSUB. Jenny is also a member of Kern Dance Alliance and is involved with developing the Kern Search for Talent competition, which benefits and brings awareness to child abuse and other charitable organizations.
A proud mother of two sons, ages 27 and 24, Jenny counts being called “Mom” as her greatest accomplishment!
Ms Claire, who is 23, has been dancing and competing since she was a little girl and has been a competitive dancer at DTA her entire life. She has trained in ballet, jazz, and tap. She is a beautiful dancer and wants to help share her love for dance and outstanding technique by teaching at DTA.
Mrs. Kyli has been dancing in the arts for over 15 years. She has been dancing and competing since she was 12. She has choreographed many award winning competition numbers and helped train dancers that have taken their careers to a professional level. After receiving her BA Degree from California State Bakersfield in Education, she moved on to San Diego where she became an NFL cheerleader for the San Diego Chargers. She also taught at different dance studios in San Diego, CA and was active in the community with the San Diego Charger Girls. Kyli has always loved the dance arts and wanted to help inspire young dancers the love for dance and the arts out of her own dance studio, Dancers Turnout Academy of Dance.
